First Sentence

Olivia's first sentence was said yesterday afternoon as she came inside from the backyard and had to slighly open the door to get in. Now she intentially will open doors just so she can repeat her accomplishment. This morning she has already gone into the panty several times so that she can burst out and yell,

"Baby opened the door"

Olivia is too difficult for her to say, so she refers to herself only as Baby to indicate possesion or her current activity (as in, Baby's shoes, Baby's bed, Baby walking, Baby funny, Baby yawning, etc.). We can ask her, "What does O-L-I-V-I-A spell?" Her responce is always, "Baby."

Happy Birthday God-dad

Olivia took charge of making the cupcakes which of course had to be chocolate. She also discovered a love for gummi worms and kept all but one for herself instead of using them to decorate like she was supposed to.
The aversion to bread like food continues. Despite the rave reviews she gave the cake batter, she refused to eat the final product and instead, licked all the frosting off the top of her cupcake.

Science Discovery Center

This was a really fun trip. The center is divided up into the first floor devoted to motion and the second floor devoted to energy. All around are stations set up with different experiments that teach mostly basic physics. The actual concepts were way over Olivia's head but it didn't stop Niki from trying to explain that she wasn't just rolling a ball on a ramp, she was converting potential energy to kinetic and so on.

There was a giant stuffed Canada goose and a racoon that Olivia went to give big hugs to. She didn't like it when we were both hugging the racoon together though.

Hit Geese?

Our girly girl digging in the dirt with her precious stick and dinosaur. I told her to smile and this is the face she made.
The baby geese were out with their parents today and Olivia was quite excited to see them. She looked at me, held up her stick, and very politely said, "Hit Geese?" She then listed off several other things to hit until we agreed it would be okay for her to hit the grass with her stick.

Happy One Year Olga and Chris

This beautiful cake was a made especially for them by the same chef who made their wedding cake. It was decorated to look like the top teir from the one they had at their reception. Olivia cheered for their choice of chocolate.

A lot of Olivia's time was spent trying to befriend Jaws the cat. He was pretty annoyed with her by the end of the night.

Running Errands

These are just two random photos from last week when we were out and about. The first one was from when we were leaving for the grocery store and there was a scrub jay sitting on my truck and Olivia was really unhappy about it. She chased that bird around the yard for at least five minutes before it finally flew away. It just kept landing about 4ft away from her and so she would chase after it over and over again.
This one quite a few people in Target also thought was funny. Olivia insisted that we get a basket and she tried lugging it around for a little while before setting it down and then getting in. I literally did our shopping carrying her in the basket and she set everything we picked up in her lap.

Berry Season Begins

Our berry bushes finally have some ripe berries. Olivia took charge of the first harvest and not a single berry made it to the house. All ripe ones were eaten on site.

Three Filipinos swimming in a pool.....

Three Filipinos swimming in a pool...
threw in their cookies which turned to gruel
They had thought they were pretty cool
Now no more cookies near the pool
("three little monkeys")
We'll remember next time not to give them cookies in the pool. What a gross slimy mess. Thank you Marie for organizing such a fun play date. I wrote the song especially for you.

Hippie Fest

The whole earth festival comes into town every mother's day weekend and Olivia and I decided to go check it out. She really enjoyed the painting and the bubbles at the kid zone.

Aunt Mary and Uncle Roger

We recently discovered family close by. Aunt Mary is the cousin of Olivia's Great Grandpa Gleeson. Olivia quickly fell in love with both of them, but even more so with their dog Rudy and the fantastic pond out in the backyard. We forgot the camera when we went over the first time but made sure to bring it this time.

We made the mistake of letting Olivia play with some cups in the water because the second we looked away, she was completely in the fountain. She didn't mind the bit of algae. Yuck.

This is Olivia hanging out after being fished out of the water and is waiting for her dress to come out of the dryer.

Old School

Niki is back playing volleyball again and Olivia goes to the Thursday night games to cheer him on (and the rest of the team of course). The other team was late this week so Olivia got to join in with their warm up.

Naked Baby

When Olivia wakes up in the morning, she normally does a few quck yells to let me and Niki know that she is in fact awake and is ready to get out of the crib. Since Tuesday, Olivia has greeted us without her jammies on. Niki went in the first time she did it and all I could hear the from Olivia's room was him laughing and then he yelled, "Kelly, your baby took off all her clothes." Every morning since then, we've found her half naked, except this morning. She figured out the diaper and so today, she was completely naked.

She's pointing to her jammies and saying, "uh oh" as if they had fallen off all by themselves.

Supposedly, being able to remove an article of clothing is a developmental milestone. I think she passed this one with flying colors.

Casey and Niki tried to teach Olivia Red light Green light. She didn't quite get it.
